History

Acquired by DreamLarge at the start of 2019, DreamLarge Weekends was born from the Education Foundation of Sarasota County’s Hackathon initiative. It has evolved into an elevated push to reignite creativity and innovation in Sarasota County students. Known for initiatives like the PINC Experience and BLVD Bike Rides, DreamLarge is an organization that aims to empower and inspire the community through innovation, activation, and social impact.

The year 2019 marked a significant milestone for DreamLarge Weekends as it brought together 50 middle and high school students aged 13 to 17, along with talented mentors from the community. Held at the vibrant campus of Ringling College of Art & Design, the weekend-long intensive was dedicated to addressing local nonprofit challenges. These challenges encompassed organizations like More Too Life, Urbanite Theatre, and Hope 4 Communities, all sharing the goal of enhancing the local community. It provided an incredible opportunity for students to collaborate with these invaluable organizations, which are making a significant impact in our area.

The aspect of DreamLarge Weekends I appreciated the most was the incredible connection between students and the community. It was enlightening to learn new ways we can help, and the kindness and open-heartedness shared among all the students truly stood out.”
